Private Fund Data

This mostly free site (premium features as well) offers the ability to search tens of thousands of private fund companies (like hedge funds and private equity). You can also search hedge fund employees. A great place to do background research on hedge funds for which you’d like to work.

 

SEC ADV Search (Adviser Info)

Most hedge funds, with a few exceptions, that do business in the US must register with the SEC. The SEC has created a huge, though somewhat cumbersome, website that allows you to search any registered fund and see their recent filings.  Before applying for a hedge fund job, be sure to do a search here and see if you find anything interesting.
